Samsung Electronics announced today that it is collaborating with Google to integrate Google Photos directly into Samsung smart TVs. The partnership aims to display personal photo libraries on larger screens in the home.
The integration will allow users to view images captured on mobile devices in a cinematic format. The service connects with Samsung’s Vision AI Companion to organize content. Google Photos will also surface through existing Samsung interfaces like Daily+ and Daily Board. Access requires users to sign in with their Google Account.
The companies outlined three primary features scheduled for release in 2026. The first feature is titled "Memories." It organizes photos by people, locations, and specific events. This function will launch in early 2026. It will be exclusive to Samsung televisions for a six-month period.
Two additional features are planned for later in the year. "Create with AI" will utilize a Google DeepMind model called Nano Banana. This tool offers image generation and editing capabilities. Users can apply themed templates, change art styles, or convert still images into short videos. The third feature is "Personalised Results." This function generates slideshows based on specific topics such as hiking or travel destinations.
Kevin Lee, Executive Vice President at Samsung Electronics, stated that the goal is to help users rediscover stories behind their photos. Shimrit Ben-Yair, Vice President of Google Photos, noted that the collaboration offers a new way for people to reconnect with their memories.
